Australian capitals among world’s most expensive

Sydney and Melbourne have made it to the top-10 list of the most expensive cities in the world to live, according to a report from RealEstate.com.au

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Worldwide Cost of Living Survey for 2014 has named Sydney the fifth most expensive, and Melbourne the equal sixth most expensive – following Singapore, Paris and Oslo as the first, second and third most expensive cities in the world to live this year.

“If you’re living in Sydney and Melbourne and feeling the squeeze, you’re not imagining things,” said the RealEstate.com.au article.

But living in one of the world’s most expensive cities doesn’t necessarily mean you have to pay through the teeth.

As we reported in a Containaway Blog post last year, bigger isn’t always best, with micro-apartments popping up in cities around the globe and making city living more accessible for a range of different budgets.

With space at a minimum, self storage is the ideal companion to a micro-apartment – and the perfect answer to those rising living costs. Self storage provides a way of keeping belongings you don’t use on a regular basis clean and secure, while reducing clutter in your living space.

At Containaway, we will deliver the container to you – no matter where you live – then you simply pack it (or we can pack it for you), and we take it away to one of our secure self storage facilities.

So who said you couldn’t afford to live in any of the world’s most expensive cities?
